先看面部感覺，面部前側都是由 trigeminal nerve 控制，從耳朵後半開始則是由 cervical nerve 控制。接下來一條條看 trigeminal nerve 的三條分支怎麼控制面部前側的感覺。
Ophthalmic nerve [V1]
Ophthalmic nerve 從 superior orbital fissure 進入眼眶，分出五條分支（兩條 supra 合在一起記）穿出眼眶到顏面支配周圍的皮膚：
- Supra-orbital 和 supratrochlear nerve 從眼眶上部離開，支配上眼皮，前額和前部的頭皮。
- Infratrochlear nerve 在眼眶的內側中部，支配內半上眼皮，內三角的皮膚和鼻側。
- Lacrimal nerve 在眼眶外側中部，支配外半上眼皮和外三角的皮膚。
- External nasal nerve 支配鼻子前側（這個可能是 infratrochlear nerve 或 anterior ethmoidal nerve 的分支，Gray’s 有提，但圖找不到）。
Maxillary nerve [V2]
Maxillary nerve 從 foramen rotundum 離開頭顱，分出三條分支支配面部：
- Zygomaticotemporal branch，zygomatic zrch 上方，temporal bone 前側。
- Zygomaticofacial branch，zygomatic bone 的前下方。
- Infra-orbital nerve 從 infra-orbital foramen 穿出，支配下眼皮、臉頰、鼻側、上嘴唇。
Mandibular nerve [V3]
Mandibular nerve 從 foramen ovale 穿出後分成上中下三條支配面部的感覺，需要注意的是 mandibular nerve 的分支不止這三條，這邊只是先提與面部感覺相關的。
- 從 temporomandibular joint 後方進入 face 的 auriculotemporal nerve（顳耳神經）。有經過 parotid gland，從 external acoustic meatus 後繞過，支配 tympanic menbrane，繼續往上支配大部分 temple。
- 中間，位於 buccinator muscle 上的 buccal nerve，支配 cheek。
- 最下從 mental foramen 穿出的 mental nerve，支配附近的皮膚、下唇和 chin。
再來看面部運動，因為面部的肌肉主要是由 2nd pharyngeal arch 延伸出來，所以都是由 facial nerve 控制。
Facial nerve 從 internal acoustic meatus 離開 posterior cranial fossa 後在temporal bone 中分支，並從 stylomastoid foramen 中穿出來。先向後上分出 posterior auricular nerve，支配兩塊肌肉，occipital belly of occipitofrontalis muscle 和 posterior auricular muscle。向下分出 digastric and stylohyoid branch，支配 posterior belly of digastric muscle 和 stylohyoid muscle。
接下來就是進入到 parotid gland 的部分，先一上一下分出 temporofacial branch 和 cervicofacial branch。
Temporafacial branch 分出 temporal branches 和 zygomatic branches，中間的 buccal branches，下方 cervicofacial branch 分出 marginal mandibular branches 和 cervical branches。下面列一下它們大致負責的區域。注意下 cervical branch 有指明 platysma，其他都只提到區域。
Temporal branches：temple、forehead、supra-orbital area
Zygomatic branches：infra-orbital area、lateral nasal area、upper lip
Buccal branches：cheek、upper lip、corner of mouth
Cervical branches：platysma
